Turkish voters are holding their breaths and watching live the results of the critical June 24 election. The election turnout is very high and approaching to 90 percent.
We will keep updating the results on our website throughout the night.
The media embargo was lifted at 18:45 Turkish time, and the state-run Anadolu News Agency (AA) has begun to announce results from across the country. In the first hours, AA results revealed that Recep Tayyip Erdogan received a very high support around 70 percent though in time his share eased down to around 54 percent. AA is accused of twisting the sentiment in Turkey through prioritizing the results of the ballot boxes which President Erdogan received strong support.
The results from the non-governmental “Fair Election Platform” are also monitored keenly along with AA, both at home and abroad. Thus, we present both results from these two agencies.
According to the latest (20:30 pm Turkey time) AA showings, pro-Kurdish HDP passed the 10 percent parliamentary threshold which in turn would significantly affect the distribution of seats in the parliament against the AKP.
The results of the Fair Election Platform’s presidential elections results at 21.28 with 49.1 per cent of the vote counted are as follows:
